Responsibilities

The Insurance Verifier/Financial Counselor determines patient liability based on benefits and advises patients of their financial responsibility prior to scheduled elective procedures. Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits for emergent and urgent admissions, procedures, or other services and ensures communication of patient responsibility. Updates demographic and insurance information in patient accounts, supports patient arrangements for responsibility, and screens and refers patients to state and county assistance programs, charity, or discounts as per facility policies.

Works closely with Case Management in securing Medicaid/medical treatment authorizations and communicates effectively in verbal, written, and telephone formats.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of standard insurance companies and verification requirements
  • Well versed in authorization processes for all payers
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Customer service experience required
  • High School Graduate or GED Equivalent
Pay

Competitive compensation; a reasonable estimate for this role includes $21.00 per hour as a starting estimate, but final compensation will be determined at the time of selection.
