Speech Language Pathologist

SALARY RANGE: $97,371.00 - $

ADDITIONAL SALARY INFORMATION: FULLY PAID RICH Benefit Package. Salary will be based on verified prior experience; VVUHSD will honor up to ten (10) years of qualifying experience.

Under the direction of the Director of Special Education, the Speech-Language Pathologist assesses and provides intervention services for students with communication disorders in accordance with state and federal regulations.

• Assess, diagnose, and provide treatment for students with speech, language, voice, fluency, and communication disorders.
• Conduct comprehensive evaluation using standardized tests, observations, and record reviews to determine eligibility.
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Participate in IEP meetings, Student Study Team (SST) meetings, and other required conferences.
• Provide direct speech-language therapy services to eligible students. Ensure services align with educational relevance and support student’s access to the curriculum.
• Communicate student progress and accommodations to all stakeholders, including, but not limited to general and special education staff.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including assessment reports, progress notes, and compliance records.
• Enter billing information into the district’s designated software.
• Provide supervision to Speech-Language Pathology Assistants, as assigned.

• Participate in professional development, in-service trainings, and staff meetings.
• Perform related duties as assigned to support district programs and services.

• Master’s Degree, including courses needed to meet credential requirements.
• Valid California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board license.
• Valid Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential issued by the CTC.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, not required.
• Experience working with speech, language, and hearing disorders in school-aged populations, preferred, not required.
• The District will consider waiver applicants.

• Principles, practices, and methods of speech-language pathology in education settings.
• American Speech-Language Hearing Association policies.
• Policies and objectives of assigned programs and procedures.

• Strong written and oral communication skills, including report writing and collaborative consultation.
• Ability to manage caseloads, prioritize tasks, and meet timelines and compliance requirements.
• Organizational and time-management skills in a fast paced school environment.
• Ability to use technology, including assessment tools, AAC devices, IEP systems, and electronic recordkeeping platforms.
• Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting professional standards and deadlines.

• Insurability by the District’s liability insurance carrier.
• Included in one or more of the previously mentioned essential functions, which are the following essential physical requirements:
  • Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
  • Ability to see for purposes of reading laws and code, rules and policies, and other printed matter, and observing students.
  • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
  • Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversations.
