The Esquimalt Recreation Centre is a multi-purpose wellness and community recreation facility. Features of the Recreation Centre include: 4500+ square foot Wellness Centre, featuring state-of-the-art cardio and strength training equipment, gymnasium, aquatic centre with six-lane 25 metre lap pool, warm “lifestyle pool” and tot pool with spray features, wheelchair accessible hot-tub, steam room, and sauna. In addition to recreation activities and programs, there are hundreds of year-round community programs to choose from.

The Recreation Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill an auxiliary Cashier/Receptionist position. Reporting to the Reception Programmer, the successful candidate will provide exceptional customer service and exhibit strong multi-tasking skills. Tasks include answering inquiries regarding community programs and services both on the phone and over the counter, operating registration and point-of-sale software, handling cash and preparing daily cash-outs, and being a central point of communication for the day-to-day operation for public and staff.

• One year of office/reception and cash-handling experience – or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Graduation from senior secondary school
• Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to deal with public in a courteous and tactful manner
• Experience operating computer programs including Microsoft Office, point of sale software, and using computer databases (preferable)
• Provision of a current, clean Criminal Record Check including vulnerable sector check
• Availability for opening, closing, and/or weekend shifts

Salary: $26.42 – $28.53 hourly which includes 14% in lieu of benefits (2024 rates)

Hours:

Shifts vary, between 5:15 am and 10:45 pm, seven days a week
