• Help customers discover items they inquire about.
• Inform customers of food specials and recommend items to meet their needs.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell by dates and take action.
• Stock and label department merchandise.
• Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products sold within the department and store.
• Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions and notifying store management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate management of repairs.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a high paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
