Overview

Marine Maintenance Mechanic (Diesel Mechanic) – Ergon Marine & Industrial Supply, Inc., has an opening for a Marine Maintenance Mechanic at its Vicksburg location.

Ergon is a family-owned oil and gas company based in the Jackson, MS area with facilities across the US. EMIS is a subsidiary with facilities that support marine traffic up and down the Mississippi River. Our facilities are located in Vicksburg, MS, Memphis, TN, and Wood River, IL.

This position is responsible for minor repairs on EMIS marine equipment and building maintenance on EMIS property.

Responsibilities
  • General maintenance of EMIS marine vessels
  • Oversee and help EMIS vessels with monthly servicing / preventive maintenance
  • Communicate with Port Engineer regarding daily assignments
  • Investigate and diagnose reported problems and relay the information to Port Captain
  • Assist crews in preparing vessels and barges for USCG inspections
  • Oversee and assist outside contractors with marine repairs
  • Make general repairs to buildings on EMIS property as needed
  • Must work well with others
  • Some travel will be required
Qualifications
  • High School graduate or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience on towing vessels
  • Knowledge of marine vessels and diesel engines
  • General knowledge of marine hydraulics, electrical and piping systems
  • General shipyard knowledge
  • Must be able to swim
  • Must have a valid driver's license

Any offer of employment will be contingent on a routine background check, a pre-employment drug screen, and an acceptable motor vehicle report.
