About the Role

Join our team at Advanced Veterinary Care of Vestavia as a Kennel Technician! We are seeking a knowledgeable, compassionate animal care professional who is committed to a Fear Free approach and making a positive difference in the lives of pets and their owners, all while working in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provides compassionate care to all animals, including keeping patients clean, dry, and comfortable and alerting the medical team to changes in animals’ condition while boarding.
  • Supervise daycare playgroups, ensuring a fun and safe environment for all dogs.
  • Feed and water all dogs and cats following daily schedules which will include proper food quantities, and logs that data daily.
  • Ensure regular and timely removal of animal waste in all areas of the kennel and clinic property, which includes changing kitty litters.
  • Complete general housekeeping duties for the clinic on a regular basis, including but not limited to: laundry, removing trash, sweeping, mopping, and other cleaning duties as assigned.
  • Walk/Exercise dogs outside regardless of weather.
  • Bathe animals which will include trimming toenails, cleaning ears, and expressing anal glands. May be asked to collect urine and feces specimens. Brush-out patients on a regular basis or as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners about their animals’ needs and care routines.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to clients and maintain a positive environment.
Requirements
  • High School degree or its equivalent; experience in animal care preferred.
  • Strong passion for animal welfare and a commitment to providing quality care.
  • Ability to lift and carry pets up to 50 pounds safely.
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanor with clients and team members.
  • Basic knowledge of animal behavior and health indicators.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
