Biology Lab Technician

Job Description

Join our Environmental Monitoring and Verification team within the Quality Control Department as a Biology Lab Technician. This role combines elements of chemistry and microbiology, and involves work both in production suites and the QC lab.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct surface sampling and cleaning verification swabs in a clean room setting after product manufacturing.
  • Perform QC testing using UV, conductivity meters, incubators, autoclave, and particle size testing.
  • Undergo training for future HPLC and GC testing.
  • Peer review data while adhering to cGMP regulations.
  • Sample water and conduct microbial testing.
  • Qualify agar plates for growth promotion.
  • Cross-train on the Raw Materials Team to test incoming materials and perform wet chemistry testing such as pH, IR, moisture, and identification tests.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related Life Science field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in chemistry, particularly with HPLC or other analytical instrumentation.
  • 0-2 years of experience working under GMP regulations.
  • Proficiency in microbiology and chemistry testing, quality control, and QC testing.
  • Strong attention to detail and self-accountability.

Work Environment

The position is based in a Quality Control laboratory setting with a modern design and shared work spaces. The lab comprises four teams on the chemistry side, each with around six chemists per supervisor, including Raw Materials, Finished Products, Analytical Development, Environmental Monitoring, and QC Specialists. The work environment fosters collaboration with shared spaces and provides full-time employees with up to 17 days of PTO in their first year, increasing to 22 days thereafter.

Employees can use accrued PTO immediately with supervisor approval. The lab has recently been remodeled to encourage a team environment with shared work spaces.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Verona, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 – $27.00/hr.
