Scenic Artist

F5 Theming & Design is a Scenic Art Design & Manufacturing Company specializing in themed entertainment and commercial environments. The Scenic Artist is responsible to create functional or decorative objects by hand, using a variety of methods and materials. The Scenic Artist will cut, shape, fit, join, mold, or otherwise process materials, using hand tools, power tools, or machinery and then apply finishes to the objects being crafted. They will develop concepts or creative ideas for craft objects and select materials for use based on strength, color, texture, balance, weight, size, malleability and other characteristics.

$24.00 - $25.00 per hour

• Follow written and verbal direction.
• Properly prepare work on different substrates.
• Utilize all tools of the trade, including but not limited to, spray guns, airless sprayers, sanders, grinders, power washers, saws, drills, nail guns, welders, staplers and air compressors, to institute applicable artistic disciplines for creating props using a variety of graphic media and hands-on techniques (i.e. sculpting, texturing, reading CAD drawings, etc.)
• Complete production runs of props in a timely manner.
• Complete the look of faux.
• Applies basic color theory with the ability to mix colors.
• Demonstrate initiative within the shop while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work area.
• Perform solid acceptable work consistently to achieve a specified look based on client expectations.
• Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established safety policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Ability to communicate complex artistic ideas through a combination of written, visual, graphic and material media, required. This role must have in-depth knowledge of color theory, art history, scenic painting techniques, sculpture, architecture, perspective, lighting techniques and storytelling.
• Ability to adjust to frequently changing situations.
• Responsible for participating as a team member to create the finished product per client specifications. Influences decisions of significant nature requiring high degree of tact.

• High School diploma or equivalency and/or trade school is preferred.

• 2+ years production design and field experience. Designing experience-based entertainment for world-class theme parks or related industries, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
