Job Description

The UPRT Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT), including spin training, in accordance with the approved Training Course Outline as outlined in the Skyborne Airline Academy Training Manual. This position involves both ground and in-aircraft instruction, with a primary focus on safety, regulatory compliance, student engagement, and performance tracking.

The role ensures the safe and effective execution of flight training duties while maintaining full regulatory compliance with company and national authority standards. The instructor will also support training record documentation, lesson preparation, and continuous instructional development.

Flight Operations and Safety
  • Maintain operational and safety oversight of aircraft, passengers, and cargo from engine start through shutdown.
  • Conduct pre-flight planning, weather assessments, and familiarization with regulations, destinations, alternates, and escape routes.
  • Execute safe command of aircraft and enforce safety protocols in all phases of flight.
  • Evaluate and mitigate risks, including refusal of boarding to individuals posing safety threats (e.g., under influence of drugs or alcohol).
  • Ensure adherence to all checklists, operating procedures, and airworthiness standards.
  • Verify pre-flight inspections, fuel/oil sufficiency, and proper implementation of manufacturer-approved procedures.
  • Monitor weather and operational conditions throughout flight.
  • Report equipment unserviceability, flight irregularities, or emergency deviations in compliance with aviation authority regulations.
Instructional Delivery and Student Development
  • Prepare and deliver ground and flight instruction in UPRT and spin recovery, as assigned to both U.S. (CFI candidates) and UK (integrated course) students.
  • Provide pre-flight and post-flight briefings to trainees.
  • Maintain currency in UPRT techniques, company procedures, and regulatory guidance.
  • Conduct accurate student evaluations, monitor progress, and recommend remedial action where needed.
  • Ensure lesson-specific preparation, clear communication of objectives, and student comprehension.
  • Deliver instruction in accordance with the published training schedule and maintain on‑time performance.
  • Complete all required training documentation, student records, and administrative reporting promptly.
Compliance and Professional Conduct
  • Maintain current instructor qualifications, completing standardization and recurrent training as scheduled.
  • Enforce trainee compliance with safety procedures and flight rules.
  • Ensure proper briefing on emergency procedures and use of safety equipment, including parachutes when applicable.
  • Report any inadequacies in aircraft or facilities to management.
  • Ensure proper documentation and validity of flight plans and related materials.
  • Collaborate with the CFI, Safety Manager, and Operations Control in all matters of safety, compliance, and training improvement.
Qualifications
  • FAA or EASA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI/CFII), or equivalent UPRT qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering UPRT and spin training in a high-performance, single-engine aircraft.
  • Strong understanding of applicable aviation regulations (FAA/EASA), flight safety principles, and instructional methodology.
  • Excellent communication, evaluation, and organizational skills.
