About the Church

The Community Church of Vero Beach (CCOVB) is a large United Church of Christ (UCC) congregation located on the east coast of Florida. The church is known for its mission work, music, and fine arts. CCOVB practices inclusivity, hospitality, and invites honest dialogue.

The children and youth of CCOVB are actively involved in church programming and have opportunities to serve in leadership roles. Both the children's and youth ministries are well-funded and each have age-specific, inviting spaces that young people can call their own.

The ideal candidate will be a sincere follower of the teachings of Jesus, and someone who is committed to ongoing faith formation and growth, both personally and corporately (the Church). The ideal candidate will create inclusive, affirming spaces where children and youth can explore and deepen their faith and connect that faith to their daily lives, relationships, and the wider world.

• Establish and execute an overarching plan for faith formation for children (birth through high school students) and their families.
• Champion the spiritual formation of children and youth. This includes supervising any children's ministry staff and working collaboratively with them to foster an inclusive space where children, youth, and families of all backgrounds, identities, and abilities feel safe, respected, and heard.
• Integrate creation care, justice ministries, and service into children's and youth ministry as vital expressions of Christian faith.
• Ensure adherence to the church's Safe Church/Child Protection policies for all children's and youth ministry.
• Partner with church staff and lay leaders to integrate youth and children into the larger life and vision of CCOVB.

• A deep and growing Christian faith with a commitment to the theology and values of the United Church of Christ.
• Experience working with middle and/or high school youth in a ministry or related setting.
• Strong relational, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to create inclusive, affirming spaces and to work respectfully with diverse populations.
• Willingness to collaborate with church staff, lay leaders, and families.

Vero Beach, sometimes called the Hamptons of Florida, is known for its upscale charm, artistic feel, and beautiful, quiet beaches. The community boasts of its small town charm with modern amenities. Community members enjoy a plethora of outdoor activities and a vibrant cultural scene.
