Job Functions (EJFs)
- Attends work on a regular basis and may be asked to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
- Regularly makes rounds to individual program areas performing inspections with a focus on performance improvement initiatives and compliance with state and federal laws, rules and regulations. Performs mock compliance surveys for ongoing survey readiness and preparation. Identifies areas of failure and concerns making recommendations for needed improvements.
- Evaluates the provision of individual care by review and audits of medical records and person‑centered recovery plans to determine accuracy and compliance with laws, rules and regulations as they relate to delivery of nursing standards of care. Reviews current documentation procedures to ensure they support delivery of care that meets the requirements of regulatory agencies. Reviews data to evaluate effectiveness of policies and procedures.
- Develops and promotes an environment that reduces risk to individuals and staff through support of the hospital’s safety and risk management plans, infection control programs, and restraint and seclusion reduction strategies. Participates as a member of the hospital Accident Review Board and Risk Management Committees to develop interventions and corrective plans for a safer individual and employee environment.
- Coordinates nursing medication management processes by ensuring compliance with standards related to storage, administration, medication waste, and investigation of unusual individual symptoms and reactions as they relate to nursing delivery of care. Conducts medication room inspections. Investigates and reports medication variances. Identifies and makes recommendations related to medication management. Acts as liaison working collaboratively with the hospital Pharmacy department.
- Contributes to the culture of Nursing Services and development of nursing personnel, colleagues and others by sharing current knowledge, clinical information, nursing research through formal and informal methods in order to improve Nursing Services across all shifts. Participates in the development of Nursing Services philosophy, purpose, goals, and objectives.
