Performs journey-level volunteer services work under the general supervision of the Director of Community Relations with moderate latitude for the utilization of initiative and independent judgement. Work includes recruiting and training new volunteers, keeping a database of volunteer information and skills, processing, and tracking donations to the Volunteer Services Council, creating monthly and annual volunteer activity reports, matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skills, keeping volunteers informed, and conveying the organization's purpose to the public.

Performs other duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

Attends work on a regular basis and may be asked to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.

Assists in developing volunteer recruitment and retention plans based on federal grant requirements; recruits volunteers in accordance with the recruitment plan; fully screens and processes volunteer applicants; interviews, selects, and assigns under the supervision of the State Director of hospital Community Relations.

Creates and provides educational and training materials and programs that establish the etiquette for volunteers and patients.

Identifying, assessing, and complementing patients’ needs with volunteers’ skillsets.

Oversees required records, files, and the program database regarding volunteer schedules, and evaluates volunteers’ performance and effectiveness.
