General Overview
Ross, a leading off‑price retail chain with over 2,200 stores, offers a constant stream of high‑quality brands at extraordinary savings while providing a fun and exciting treasure hunt experience. This Area Supervisor position is a member of the Store Leadership team responsible for opening and closing the store, supervising associates, and maintaining a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment.
Essential Functions- Maintain a safe and secure environment by prioritizing safety, securing the building, protecting cash, and responding to alarms.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by treating everyone with respect, demonstrating courtesy and professionalism, and recognizing associates.
- Represent and support the Ross brand by maintaining a professional appearance, adhering to the dress code, keeping all store areas clean and merchandised, and performing daily trash removal.
- Execute general merchandising tasks including receiving merchandise, processing items with urgency, managing stockrooms, and ensuring floor moves and signing.
- Apply Loss Prevention best practices by maintaining a large customer service presence, safeguarding confidential information, and executing “Code 50” package inspections.
- Supervise front‑end operations by training associates on cash registers, controlling the cash register line, and ensuring proper equipment and supplies.
- Maintain fitting rooms by auditing tags, ensuring compliance, and processing returned merchandise.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Store Manager, including cash pulls, register control, payroll administration, and scheduling compliance.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.
- Basic mathematical skills used in retail environments.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Ability to use all store equipment, stand, walk, move around the store, bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, stoop, push, pull, lift more than 25 lbs, use janitorial equipment and ladders. Stockroom shifts require frequently pushing, pulling and lifting more than 20 lbs.
