SalaryThis position has a base salary range of $40,000.00 - $60,000.00 USD annual. The range represents the expected base salary for this position. The actual salary may vary based on several factors including relevant skills/experience and time in the role.
SummaryThis role is responsible for the preparation and processing of loan modification requests for consumer loans. In addition, the Specialist will support the Sr Team Lead, Asset & Loss Mitigation by conducting collection efforts to mitigate risk of loss for the credit union’s $1.3B portfolio of real‑estate loans, and will assist leadership and the support team in building strong financial relationships with members by providing high‑quality customer service and sound debt‑collection efforts.
Roleand Responsibilities
- Utilize advanced knowledge of subject matter to mitigate loss via phone, email, mail, and interpersonal interactions.
- Execute loss mitigation strategy as designed by Management.
- Perform agreed‑upon quantity and quality of collection activity on assigned accounts, including working with members to document financial hardships, prepare modification proposals for management approval, and collaborate with members and other BCU departments to process approved loan modifications, ensuring compliance with the Collections Policy.
- Support the Sr Team Lead, Asset & Loss Mitigation with collection efforts to mitigate risk of loss for the credit union’s portfolio of real‑estate and student loans.
- Perform thorough account follow‑up and ensure proper actions, documentation, and analysis are taken to resolve delinquent accounts.
- Process all incoming and outgoing requests for paper and electronic documents related to consumer loan modifications.
- Assist the Department in handling inbound calls or other member issues outside of the assigned account workload.
- Adhere to procedures outlined in the Collections Policy, as well as state and federal regulations and procedural documents.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of five years of business experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of, and proficiency with, the Internet, Microsoft Windows, and Office.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong organization, clerical, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
- Self‑directed and motivated to complete repetitive tasks.
- Sensitivity to confidential information is required.
