The City of Vernon is nestled in the North Okanagan and surrounded by mountains, lakes, orchards, and vineyards. Vernon is a vibrant community with full amenities, great golf, world class skiing, and is a playground for tourists and locals year-round. The Vernon Golf and Country Club has deep roots in the community and has been in operation since 1913. We are a bustling, semi-private golf club with 675 members and a current waitlist of 200.
It is an exciting time for the club as we have seen major improvements to the clubhouse and the grounds over the past 2 years.
The Membership, Events & Communications Manager is accountable for the club’s membership maintenance and growth, development of marketing programs, website maintenance, and ongoing communications to the members, the coordination of promotional material and will be the main contact for member and golf related events.
The position oversees most membership matters includes recruiting new members, selling, promoting, conducting tours and orientations, and assists current members with requests for changes in their membership status up to and including resignations.
In a communication capacity, this position is responsible for preparing the quarterly newsletter (including writing content), maintaining the club website, club app, issuing club communications, and overseeing marketing of all club events. This position assists the club’s General Manager with Board of Directors and Committee administration and would be the management representative of the Membership Committee.
This position will also be the main point of contact for the booking phase of member league, member event and member room booking enquiries. Handling the early booking phase, Event Contracts, Banquet Event Orders and assisting department managers with event planning and execution.
Duties & Responsibilities Membership- Is a member of the Senior Leadership Team that oversees the overall management and leadership of member operations
- Handles all incoming membership inquiries and coordinates tours; meetings; and Orientation
- Oversees existing member inquiries and any requests for status change.
- Prepares agendas and minutes and attends the Membership Committee.
- Properly promotes, coordinates and administers the membership programs to achieve and maintain a full membership
- Establishes rapport with members and prospective members to serve their needs and interests, to increase member satisfaction, to reduce member attrition, to generate referrals and to increase new member recruitment
- Provides prospective members with membership documentation and provides club tours for prospective members.
- As directed by the General Manager and Membership Committee, oversees all membership approval procedures (distributing proposal forms, verifying sponsors, making sure application forms are completed correctly, liaison between prospective members and sponsors, liaison between prospective members and Membership Committee)
- Prepares and distributes various letters and communications to members (Welcome letters, acknowledging leaves, resignations, change of status etc.)
- Maintains the online member profile (on website for Roster and access)
- Develops all communication programs and initiatives.
- Organizes and directs the preparation and publication of club event posters, brochures, flyers, print materials, marketing campaigns and programs.
- Oversees the writing, editing and preparation of the quarterly Newsletter
- Issues weekly email communication to all members
- Analyzes email and social media marketing data to develop strategies for engagement.
- Updates and maintains the Club website and App
- Create consistent and engaging postings and conversations on social media outlets, including Facebook, Snapchat, X, Instagram and Linked In.
- Develop and manage an annual member events calendar with Food and Beverage Manager/Head Golf Professional (social, family, holiday, golf, and specialty events).
