We are currently seeking a permanent full‑time Community Mental Health Worker 1 to join our Mental Health (MH) team at the Vernon Health Centre in beautiful Vernon, B.C.

A successful candidate will have experience in diverse mental health issues and be able to support the recovery process for those experiencing ongoing mental health concerns at a moderate to severe level, affecting ability to function.
They will be a team player and support the wraparound team approach to care. Some computer skills like Teams, Outlook Calendar and email are required. A driver’s licence (Class V) is required, as part of the work they will be driving clients to appointments related to mental well‑being.
Working with case manager nurses, psychiatrists and community partners is required; experience in psychosocial rehab is helpful. Assistance with budgeting and life skills is a plus, and an understanding of the need for healthy activities and structure is an asset.
What will you work on?The Community Mental Health Worker 1 functions as part of an integrated multidisciplinary Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) Team and performs a variety of life‑skills and general support duties involving clients who are living in their own housing. Reporting to the HCIS Manager or designate, and in accordance with established treatment plans, this position provides services within a psychosocial rehabilitation and harm‑reduction framework for the assigned client population(s) with severe mental illnesses and/or substance‑use disorders.
The role supports clients in developing and maintaining the skills required to live successfully in their own homes, engaging them in various community settings as people with full potential and as meaningful collaborators in their own service planning, delivery and evaluation.
Shift types are days and evenings; shift times are from 12:30 to 21:23 and 08:30 to 17:23.

QualficationsEducation, Training and
Experience:
- Grade 12
- Certificate in a field relevant to the position (e.g., Community Mental Health Certificate, Human Service Worker Certificate, Social Services Worker Certificate, etc.)
- One year recent related experience working with the assigned client population(s) experiencing mental health and/or substance use problems; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Food Safe certificate required.
- Current valid B.C. Driver’s License (Class
5).
