Job DescriptionNRSS is seeking a Roadway Worker In Charge (RWIC) to support railroad flagging services for Class 1 Railroads, Regional Short Lines, Transit Systems, State DOTs, and railroad suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
Required EducationHigh School Diploma or Equivalent.
Required ExperienceMinimum 2 years with a Class 1 Railroad, Regional Short Line, Transit System, State DOT Rail Division, Railroad Supplier, Railroad Contractor, and/or Railroad Consultant. Preferably within Maintenance Of Way (MOW) departments.

- Proficient computer skills in basic email, phone, and text messaging.
- Experience with Android OS on tablets and smartphones.
- Proficient in Citrix applications.
- Strong oral and written communication.
- Technical knowledge in Railroad Engineering, Design, Construction, and Safety.
- High accuracy and attention to detail; well organized.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Willingness to travel extended periods, sometimes months.
- Ability to complete mandatory Federal, Client, and Company training.
- Provide jobsite coordination.
- Communicate clearly with Dispatchers, Train Crews, and other railroad personnel.
- Deliver concise, thorough job briefings at each site.
- Enforce all Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
- Identify rule violations and resolve per regulations.
- Enforce contractor training requirements.
- Submit daily field reports detailing contractor and railroad activities.
- Maintain On-Track Safety according to 49 CFR 214 for all relevant railroad entities.
Field environment.
Physical Demands- Must hear, speak, read, and write clearly in English.
- Must drive long distances and travel by other modes as needed.
- Must stand for long periods and/or walk on level/uneven ground.
- Must see close and at distance with color and depth perception.
- Must tolerate extreme heat/cold temperatures.
- Must tolerate dusty/noisy conditions.
