As the Career Advocate in Daggett, Duchesne and Uintah Counties in Utah, you will work with students aged 14‑22 with disabilities to provide career‑based guidance and support for job exploration, professional skill development, and access to resources for vocational training and/or educational institutions. The Career Advocate will assist students with identifying learning styles, strengths, weaknesses, and interests while developing self‑knowledge and self‑advocacy skills that build confidence and encourage continued growth.

They help students engage with the program, develop awareness of accommodations, and assist with requesting necessary accommodations at work and in postsecondary education.

This is a part‑time position (20‑28 hours a week) for 10 months of the year (August 16th – June 15th).

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide pre‑employment transition support services.
  • Work closely with parents, teachers, developmental specialists, and community partners in Daggett, Duchesne and Uintah Counties.
  • Identify student needs and interests.
  • Assist in development and delivery of programs, including marketing and workshops to engage students and community members in the career development process.
  • Develop contacts with industry‑related employers through proactive relationship building; may create and deliver presentations and workshops.
  • Record career development activity, case management notes, and participation data for short and long‑term strategic planning.
  • Manage tools and technologies in support of student progress.
  • Travel to multiple locations (i.e., counties with designated areas) using a personal vehicle, with mileage reimbursement.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience working with youth with disabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • A positive attitude that is flexible and adaptable to a changing environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and prompt follow‑through.
  • Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record; must be able to use personal vehicle to travel.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
