Salary Range: $75,157.00 To $90,188.00 Annually
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE- Responsible for overseeing and supporting mining campaign and related activities including surveying, sample collection and analysis, contractor oversight, and data management
- Helps direct and coordinateminingcontractors and activities associated with mining operations and oreutilization
- Survey, sample, prepare, analyze and report results on blastholes samples
- Interpret results into an extraction/production plan
- Maintain various forms of data including maps, databases, and spreadsheets
- Reporting of daily pit production, activities, and other KPIs
- Identification and correction of safety deficiencies as related to the mine and operations
- Assist in understanding key orebody knowledge to support strategic mine planning with other mine technical personnel
- Perform other duties and functions as needed to support the greater Vermont Operations
- Ensure safe work systems/procedures are always practiced and adhered to ensuring duties are performed in a manner that minimises risk to self, employees, and contractors
- Support in fill/coredrilling campaigns and analyze samples
- Learn local ore body and talc grades for grading in the pit
- Communicate effectively with operators, supervisors, management and other minetechnical personnel
- Manage waste dump progresses and rehabilitation according to the waste dump designs
- Assist with pit dewatering system, water sampling and water management
- Monitor and assist with stockpile management, manage stockpile elevation and clean-up
- Update plant operators of the stockpile quality and tonnages
- Support ore stockpile inventory surveys and reports
- Participates in corporate mine planning team reviews and audits as required
- Understand and support compliance to ISO 9001 Quality Management System
- Understand and support compliance to environmental regulations and requirements as put in place by federal, state, and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
- Assist with procurement and mining related capital projects
- Other functions as required
- Understand milling and operational processes in relation with ore consumption and ore composition
- Tasks and responsibilities will change according to seasonal work being performed at the mine
- Team member of the greater Vermont Operations – this means participating in activities outside of the mine that support HSEQ and Production goals
Education and Experience requirements:
- Diploma from a college or university in minerals/mining engineering, environmental engineering, geology, or other applicable natural sciences disciplines for this position
- Knowledge and understanding of quality control and quality system
- Organizational skills will be necessary for organizing mine activities, scheduling and conducting meetings
- Analytical and statistical skills are needed to evaluate and analyze data, understand mine models, and oversee ore control
- Computer skills are required to manage and utilize data management and mine planning software
- Communication and interpersonal skills are necessary in order to work with both internal and external personnel without major conflicts and maintain teamwork at the company’s locations
- Leadership skills are needed to ensure that the mine contractors work toward common corporate/location goals and objectives
- Administrative skills are required to manage paperwork, meet reporting requirements, oversee the management of various systems, and ensure that contractors have the resources needed to execute their activities safely and efficiently
- Self‑motivation is necessary to ensure that the work progresses without constant supervision
- Planning skills are needed to ensure mine plans and other engineering activities are effectively developed and maintained and that the timely completion of programs satisfies legal and corporate objectives
- Financial skills are necessary to evaluate mine-related projects and improvement ideas
- Training and team building skills will be needed to improve individual competencies as well as develop focused group action
- Work to be performed outside in all weather conditions and seasons for long periods of time
- Lifting samples and using sample preparation equipment can require lifting up to 50 pounds
- Need to be able to navigate uneven ground conditions on foot and in company vehicles
