General Purpose
Burlington City Arts is seeking energetic, dependable, and outgoing individuals to assist with BCA’s youth and family programs in studio and gallery education for ages 6-17. This position will work closely with BCA Teaching Artists and education staff to provide critical assistance to help our programs run with ease and efficiency. This position runs seasonally aligned with youth, teen, and family programming.
This position must be available, on-site, Monday‑Friday for Summer Camp programming which runs June 15 through August 14 (with a break June 29 through July
5). Individual schedules and shift assignments are flexible within the programming hours of 7:30am‑5:30pm. This position requires someone with a flexible, energetic, and can‑do attitude. We seek candidates who have experience and/or enjoy working with children and families, who take initiative, and who are enthusiastic, friendly, highly organized, and dependable. Basic arts experience includes but is not limited to studio arts, printmaking, pottery, photography, digital arts, and/or jewelry preferred.
The position begins with mandatory training, onboarding, and orientation meetings in May/early June.

Essential Job Functions- Assisting BCA staff with parent communications, including calls to parents, greeting parents, and helping with daily check‑in and check‑out.
- Assisting BCA Teaching Artists in an educational and community arts studio setting with various duties.
- Helping to guide and manage children in studio projects and helping students one‑on‑one when necessary.
- Assisting with student snack and lunch breaks.
- Assisting with cleaning (sweep/mop), organization, set‑up/clean‑up in classrooms and common areas.
- Leading outdoor and art activities during aftercare as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

- Must be 16 years or older.
- Previous work experience with youth (between ages 6-17) preferred.
- Background in Arts Education and/or Studio Arts preferred.
- Must have a desire to work with students and must demonstrate ability to communicate in a clear and helpful manner with BCA staff, teachers, students, and parents.
- Ability to work collaboratively required.
- Ability to work onsite, Monday‑Friday (mornings, afternoons or between 7:30am‑5:30pm).
- Must demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm, punctuality, and dependability.
- Cooperative attitude and team‑player attitude.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to a changing schedule.
- Must be able to lift tables, chairs, easels, and other studio equipment and supplies.
- Ability to understand and comply with City standards, safety rules, and personnel policies.
- Ability to professionally represent the City of Burlington and the City Arts Department in all dealings with community members.
- Regular attendance is necessary and is essential to meeting the expectations of the job functions.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
