The Class A CDL Lowbed Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient transportation of heavy equipment, oversized loads, and construction machinery using lowbed and detachable trailers/tag trailers. This role plays a critical part in supporting excavation, site work, and construction operations by ensuring equipment is delivered and relocated safely, on schedule, and in compliance with all DOT and safety regulations. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and experienced in securement, route planning, and heavy haul operations.
This position can be based out of Londonderry, North Clarendon or Arlington.
Key Responsibilities- Safely transport heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, rollers, and other large machinery using lowbed and RGN trailers
- Perform proper load securement using chains, binders, and tie‑downs in accordance with DOT regulations
- Conduct thorough pre‑trip, post‑trip, and en‑route inspections of tractor, trailer, and cargo
- Coordinate with project managers, dispatch, and site supervisors for equipment moves and scheduling
- Safely load and unload equipment, including operating ramps, detachables, and ground‑guiding procedures
- Plan routes considering height, weight, width restrictions, permits, weather, and site conditions
- Maintain accurate logs, permits, trip sheets, and inspection documentation
- Follow all company safety policies, DOT/FMCSA regulations, and state/local requirements
- Communicate professionally with field crews and customers while representing the company positively
- Report equipment issues, delays, or safety concerns promptly
- Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record
- Proven experience hauling heavy equipment on lowbed or RGN trailers
- Strong knowledge of load securement, weight distribution, and DOT compliance
- Ability to read permits, site plans, and load specifications
- Comfortable working in construction sites, uneven terrain, and variable weather conditions
- Ability to perform physical tasks including climbing, chaining, bending, and lifting up to 75 lbs
- Experience in excavation, site work, or heavy civil construction environments
- Hoisting or equipment operation knowledge
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions, construction sites, and traffic
- Long hours may be required depending on project demands
- Must be able to safely mount/dismount equipment and trailers multiple times per shift

- Experience with GPS tracking systems is a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
