Job DescriptionThis is an entry‑level driver training role. The Driver Trainee learns to drive a tractor‑trailer or straight truck intrastate and/or interstate on local, over‑the‑road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes to deliver and unload food and food‑related products. All routes are completed safely following company policies and Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). The trainee communicates professionally with customers, vendors, and co‑workers and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.

- Attend and successfully complete the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program. Maintain all required training documentation.
- Ride‑with and assist driver trainer during deliveries. Follow all trainer instructions.
- Perform all required safety checks (e.g., pre/post‑trip) and inspections of tractor/truck and trailer. Report safety issues and needed repairs.
- Follow DOT regulations and company safe‑driving guidelines. Report safety hazards immediately.
- Inspect trailer for proper loading and securing of freight. Perform count checks of items and verify freight against customer invoices. Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
- Drive to and deliver orders according to the predetermined route schedule.
- Unload products, transport items to designated storage areas, perform damage control checks, scan items, and contact supervisor when necessary. Verify delivery with customer signatures. Collect money (cash or checks) if required. Load customer returns onto the trailer and secure doors.
- Ensure that tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and secured at all times.
- Unload damaged goods and returns, bring to the driver check‑in, and complete necessary paperwork. Remove trash and equipment from trailers as required.
- Complete daily hours‑of‑service record and enter it in the log per Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
- Maintain general housekeeping of the tractor, loading dock area, and trailers. Secure all equipment and complete paperwork at shift end.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
- Internal PFG candidates: 1 year of service in good standing as outlined in the training program; ability to attain CDL Permit and DOT Health Card
- 0–12 months commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL A
- Must be 21 years of age
- Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
- Pass post‑offer drug test
- Pass road test
- Attain or hold a valid current DOT Health Card
- Ability to hand‑lift and use two‑wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight (approximately 60–90 pounds) during the shift
