Position: ASSISTANT RURAL CARRIER (ARC)
Location: Lyndon

Scheduled Days:
Saturday, Sunday and holidays observed by the USPS as needed. During onboarding, ARCs must be available for required training on weekdays.

REQUIRED:

Applicants must have a valid state driver's license, a safe driving record, and at least two years of unsupervised experience driving passenger cars or larger in the U.S., its possessions, territories, or U.S. military installations worldwide. A personal vehicle suitable for use may be required for this position.

Postal Service employment is conditional upon meeting medical suitability, general eligibility and suitability, and background check requirements. Therefore, if you receive a job offer, note that it will be conditional upon you meeting these requirements, even if you are allowed to begin working first.

SALARY RANGE: $20.38 per hour, paid bi-weekly.

Functional

Purpose:

Using dynamic route descriptions, deliver packages on Sundays and observed holidays. May case, deliver and collect mail and packages on Saturday along a prescribed rural route using a vehicle.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Loads packages in delivery sequence into the vehicle.
  • Delivers packages to customers along a prescribed route.
  • Sorts mail in delivery sequence for the assigned route.
  • Receives and signs for accountable mail.
  • Loads mail and packages into the vehicle.
  • Delivers mail and packages to customers along a prescribed route or serves as an auxiliary assistant by vehicle; collects monies and receipts for accountable mail; picks up mail from customers' roadside boxes.
  • Provides routine information concerning postal matters to customers.
  • Returns collected mail, undeliverable mail, and submits monies and receipts to the post office.
  • Prepares appropriate time records.
  • Maintains mail security at all times.
  • May be required to provide a vehicle for delivery if an employer‑provided vehicle is not assigned. Eligible candidates must have an appropriate vehicle suitable for use and live within easy commuting distance of the facility.
