Assistant Rural Carrier (ARC) – United States Postal Service
USPS is seeking Assistant Rural Carriers to deliver packages and mail along rural routes on Sundays, holidays, and Saturdays. Candidates must have a valid state driver's license, a clean driving record, and at least two years of unsupervised driving experience in passenger cars or larger vehicles. A personal vehicle may be required for the position.
Schedule & Hours• Saturday, Sunday, and observed holidays (as needed).
• Weekday training during onboarding.
Hourly rate: $20.38 paid bi‑weekly.
Functional PurposeDeliver and collect packages and mail on rural routes; use a prescribed vehicle to maintain service standards on Sundays, holidays, and Saturdays.
Duties and Responsibilities- Load packages and mail in delivery sequence into the vehicle.
- Deliver packages and mail to customers along the prescribed route.
- Sort mail in delivery sequence for the assigned route.
- Receive, sign for, and secure accountable mail.
- Collect payments and receipts for accountable mail.
- Provide routine information about postal operations to customers.
- Return undeliverable mail and submit monies and receipts to the post office.
- Prepare and maintain accurate time records.
- Ensure mail security at all times.
- Valid state driver’s license with at least two years of unsupervised driving experience in passenger cars or larger vehicles.
- Clean driving record.
- Legal and medical suitability for USPS employment.
- Background check clearance.
- Ability to work independently and in variable weather conditions.
- Vehicle suitable for delivery may be required. Eligible applicants may receive an Equipment Maintenance Allowance (EMA) if they provide their own vehicle.
Applicants will be subject to medical suitability, general eligibility, and background check requirements. Successful candidates will receive training before beginning posted duties.
