Scope of the PositionThe Sales and Production Associate is responsible for performing a wide range of duties in both the sales floor and production areas of the thrift store. This position supports daily operations while contributing to a welcoming, respectful environment that reflects and supports the mission of The Salvation Army. The role helps maintain order, promotes sustainability, and builds positive relationships with customers and donors.
Responsibilities- Provide courteous, professional, and responsive customer service at all times.
- Support daily store operations, including opening and closing tasks as assigned.
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and visual standards, including displays.
- Receive donations and handle all items respectfully and appropriately.
- Sort, price, hang, tag, and stock merchandise according to established procedures.
- Maintain proper organization of merchandise by category, colorization, and established rag‑out schedules.
- Perform cashier duties, including operating the point‑of‑sale system and processing transactions accurately.
- Follow all cash handling policies and procedures.
- Restock merchandise and assist customers as needed throughout the store.
- Adhere to the Thrift Store Employee Handbook and all established policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- A combination of education and at least one year of relevant work experience preferred.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience using a cash register or point‑of‑sale system and handling cash accurately.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures and instructions.
- Basic math skills and ability to manage transactions responsibly.
- Dependable, punctual, and adaptable in a fast‑paced environment.
