This structured, year-long transition-to-practice program is designed to help newly licensed nurses begin their careers with confidence, competence, and exceptional support.

The NVRH New Graduate Nurse Residency Program provides a comprehensive, hands-on onboarding experience tailored to support new nurses.
What You'll Gain- Dedicated 1:1 Nurse Preceptor for 6 months
- 12-month professional mentor for ongoing growth and guidance
- Structured clinical orientation with consistent feedback and support
- Scheduled classroom learning and hands-on simulation
- A supportive environment with regular check-ins, coaching, and mentorship
New Grads will have the opportunity to explore their strengths through exposure to diverse care areas, including:
- Emergency Department
- ICU
- Day Surgery
- Infusion
- House Supervision
- Care Management
Led by our Nursing Education Team, new grads engage in focused development sessions covering:
- Clinical Judgment & Critical Thinking
- Time Management & Prioritization
- Communication & Conflict Resolution Leadership & Resilience
- Patient Safety & Quality Improvement
- Evidence-Based Practice
- Body Systems Review
- High-Risk, Low-Volume Emergencies

- Hold an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
- Possess (or are eligible for) a Vermont or multi-state Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license
