Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 5 years of Med/Surg Tele experience or 3 years of telemetry experience, prior travel experience, and Epic proficiency.
Responsibilities- Acute Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
- 12-hour night shifts, Monday through Sunday
- Telemetry strip interpretation, NG tube insertion, and peripheral IV insertion performed at the bedside
- Epic EMR used; experience within the past 2 years is required
- Required to work a minimum of every other weekend, or as adjusted to meet unit and patient care needs
- No block schedules permitted for any reason
- 4-week contract
- Provide acute Med/Surg Telemetry nursing care, including telemetry monitoring, NG tube care, and IV management
- Public transportation is not accessible in this area; a personal or rental vehicle with all-season or snow tires is strongly recommended from November through April
- Candidates must have a complete work history on file, including bed count, EMR used, and facility type, in order to be considered
- All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
- This is an interview-to-offer (IVO) position — no formal interview is required before an offer is extended
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position due to the prior travel experience requirement
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are considered local; those 51–100 miles away qualify for a mid-tier travel rate; distance is measured in a straight line, not by driving distance
- Active RN license for Vermont (VT) or a Compact RN license; NY license with proof of pending application will also be considered
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required prior to start
- Telemetry certification preferred
- Minimum 5 years of Med/Surg Tele experience OR 3 years of dedicated telemetry experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required; must have completed at least 2 travel assignments at 300+ bed facilities, OR have previous experience at a UVMHN acute care facility
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years is required and non-negotiable
- At least 2 professional references from a Nurse Manager and/or Supervisor required — one from within the past 6 months, and one from within the past year of employment
