Overview

Atlas Gunworks is an industry leader in the premium handgun market. Every Atlas firearm is machined from billet aluminum and steel. We combine the art of hand metalworking with our state-of-the-art, multi-axis CNC machine shop to produce parts with precision and consistency.

Summary Of Position

2nd shift Machinists (3pm-11pm) are responsible for the functional building of Atlas Gunworks 2011 style pistols. Our in-house CNC shop feeds the build team with the best parts in the industry. Our Machinists take those parts and with the use of mills, lathes and various hand tools craft high quality firearms. Our in-house finishing team does the majority of the cosmetic work as well as DLC coating.

Responsibilities
  • Ability to set up and operate manual mills and lathes at a high level.
  • Measure and verify conformance of parts for manufacturing.
  • Have a strong understanding of machining principles, techniques, and tooling.
  • Tool selection, setup, and troubleshooting in a manual machining environment
  • Utilize hand tools such as foredoms and files for detailed hand work on pistols and pistol components.
  • Properly select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and attachments, on machines such as mills, lathes, jog borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • Fit and assemble parts into complete pistol assembly.
  • Ability to work with tight tolerances and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Maintain machines and equipment to ensure functionality.
  • Work independently to achieve personal and department based goals.
  • Other duties as needed.
Qualifications And Experience Requirements
  • Requires trades training or equivalent experience and 3+ years of related machining experience.
  • Requires the ability to read specifications and gauges and to complete standard production documentation.
  • Experience using a variety of precision measuring tools including micrometers, bore gauges, venires, taper gauges and dial indicators.
