Join to apply for the Control Room Operator role at Boutique Recruiting
A well‑established, community‑centered energy leader is hiring a Control Room Operator to run the heart of its 24/7 biomass power plant. This role owns the control boards monitoring, starting up, and shutting down high‑pressure steam and turbine systems while coordinating closely with outside operators to keep the plant safe, compliant, and producing power reliably. You’ll be hands‑on with real equipment, real decisions, and real responsibility every shift.
This role is built for a steady, sharp operator who thrives in a live plant environment, stays calm under pressure, and knows how to manage boilers and steam systems when conditions change, not someone looking to watch screens and coast.
- Operate and monitor the control room for a wood‑fired, high‑pressure steam power plant
- Perform plant startups, shutdowns, and ongoing operational adjustments
- Monitor steam pressures, turbine RPMs, fuel feed systems, silos, and combustion conditions
- Manage BTU variability in solid fuel inputs and adjust operations accordingly
- Direct and verify outside operator rounds, valve alignments, and equipment checks
- Ensure environmental compliance and safe plant operation at all times
- Identify, document, and report operational or safety issues to plant leadership
- Support annual plant outage with extended 12‑hour shifts during maintenance windows
- Minimum 1 year of control room experience in a high‑pressure steam‑generating facility
- Experience with solid‑fuel‑fired boilers preferred
- Background in power plants, CHP facilities, or central heating plants strongly considered
- Ability to perform startups, shutdowns, and real‑time boiler/steam monitoring
- Comfort working rotating 12‑hour shifts in a 24/7 operation
- Willingness to pass pre‑employment background check, physical, and drug test
- Experience with any control systems is welcome
- Degree not required – experience wins here
- 120 hours of PTO to start
- Comprehensive medical coverage options
- 401(k) with dollar‑for‑dollar match up to 3%
- $150 annual steel‑toed boot allowance
- Uniform flexibility
- Clear growth path into day‑shift Operations Supervisor
- Long‑term stability with a PPA secured through 2032
This is not a training wheels role. If you know steam, understand plant dynamics, and want a stable operation where your decisions matter, this seat was built for you. Apply now!
