Description

The HR & Compliance Manager works within the HR department with a focus on Benefits, Workers Compensation, Compliance and Leave Management. This role supports the organization’s Compliance and Risk Management programs through coordination, monitoring regulatory requirements, maintaining policies and documentation, conducting audits and risk assessments, tracking corrective actions, and supporting staff training and reporting. It works with internal teams to identify risks, ensure adherence to applicable laws and standards, promote consistent, compliant operational practices, and provide HR and Risk functional excellence.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Assist employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
  • Respond to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
  • Administer and process all leave of absence requests and disability paperwork including medical, personal, disability and FMLA.
  • Manage the benefits open enrollment process.
  • Manage the HR compliance program.
  • Maintain the organization’s compliance program in accordance with HRSA, CMS, HIPAA, OSHA, OIG, and other applicable regulations.
  • Investigate incidents of potential non‑compliance, including patient complaints, billing issues and breaches of confidentiality.
  • Monitor and assess organizational risk through regular audits, risk assessments, and policy reviews.
  • Assist in the development of training programs for new and existing employees at all levels to achieve consistent performance to company standards (including compliance, ethics, and regulatory standards).
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by recommending and implementing changes to minimize organizational risk.
  • Collaborate with the internal teams on processes, procedures and documentation.
  • Manage worker’s compensation process.
  • Coordinate HR and Compliance initiatives to ensure alignment with the organization’s mission.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent relevant experience).

Experience
1–3 years of HR experience (benefits preferred) and/or 1–3 years of healthcare compliance or risk management.

Other Requirements
Ability to travel occasionally to local facilities/clinics.

Preferred Knowledge and Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience administering self‑insured and/or fully insured medical plans.
  • Knowledge of leave of absence regulations.
  • Knowledge of 401(k) plans.
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in an FQHC or community health center.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of benefits and employment regulations and laws.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Versatility, flexibility and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Experience supporting compliance programs such as audits, incident tracking, policy management, corrective action plans, and regulatory reporting.
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Knowledge of Paylocity and/or Bswift.
  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • High level of integrity, initiative, and commitment to excellence.
Compensation Details

Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 per year.
