Job SummaryA multi-award-winning critical access hospital in the heart of the Green Mountains, is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join their perioperative team. Copley is renowned for its high-volume Orthopedic program, and you will play a key role in maintaining a sterile field and assisting surgeons during a variety of procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for both seasoned techs and those early in their careers, as the facility accepts candidates with less than one year of experience.
KeyResponsibilities
- Sterile Field Management: Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile drapes. Ensure the integrity of the sterile field is maintained throughout the entire procedure.
- Surgical Assisting: Pass instruments, sponges, and sutures to the surgeon. Assist the circulator in the care of the patient and the preparation of medications or specimens on the sterile field.
- Orthopedic Focus: Support specialized orthopedic cases, including total joint replacements and sports medicine procedures, which are a cornerstone of Copley's surgical volume.
- Equipment Oversight: Ensure all necessary equipment and instrumentation are available and in safe working order prior to the start of each case.
- Call Participation: Fulfill the on-call component, including one weeknight per week and a weekend rotation every 5th weekend.
- Documentation: Utilize the CPSI/Evident EMR system for tracking surgical supplies and procedural data.
- Experience: Open to all levels of experience; less than 1 year is acceptable.
- Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of surgical instrumentation and aseptic technique.
- Licensure: State License Not Needed for Surgical Technologists in Vermont.
- Soft Skills: Ability to work effectively under pressure, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to patient safety.
