The Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that people supported have the support and resources necessary to live meaningful lives, and that they align with their needs and aspirations within their respective program and communities. He/she/they will monitor and ensure active adherence to all plans for each person supported with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

The Shift Supervisor will ensure proper supports are in place and necessary resources are made available to Direct Support Professionals to ensure proper adherence to person‑supported scheduled activities.

The Shift Supervisor serves as a role model to staff and people supported and will help to develop best practices to support both the person supported and Direct Support Professional. This opportunity is available at our program located on Pine Grove Street in Queens, NY.

• Provides opportunities for people supported to personalize their environment, schedule, and experiences in program.

• Provides prompt, efficient, and personalized support to meet requirements, requests, and concerns.

• Provide habilitation services to each client as prescribed in their service plans (CFA, Individual Service Plan, Habilitation Plan).
• Responsible for overall functioning of the facility during the absence of the Program Director.

• Responsible for people supported and agency funds and expenditures during shift (petty cash, recreation, etc.).
• Ensures coverage of a shift when a Direct Support Professional is absent.
• Acts as a functioning member of the staff, meeting the needs of the people supported.
• Responsible for the physical condition of the program including agency vehicles; ensuring they are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition.
• Participates in staff meetings, supervisors’ workshops, interdisciplinary team (IDT) and committee meetings.
• Channels approved information pertaining to staff and agency to Program Specialists.
• Provides supervisory counseling and discipline to Direct Support Professionals as necessary.
• Identifies facility needs and makes the relevant staff aware.
• Ensures optimal utilization of potty resources available to achieve efficiencies.

• Carries out policies and procedures of SUS, in accordance with OPWDD and other funding sources.
• Reports all incidents, ensuring consistent adherence to OPWDD and agency policies.
• Assesses and monitors staff productivity on an ongoing basis.
• Responds appropriately to community, family and agency contacts.
• Maintains, develops and supports the person-supported to staff assignment.
