Public Health Policy Advisor
The Vermont Department of Health has an exciting opportunity to be a part of the leadership team that helps shape public health in Vermont. The successful candidate will be responsible for policy and planning leadership at a senior professional level and work on a wide range of complex policy initiatives in public health, health care, and environmental health as well as rule writing and rule promulgation.
The role involves extensive interactions with Department and Agency leadership, members of the legislature as well as local and state partners.

Department directors and staff; members of the legislature; stakeholder groups; and local and state partners. Duties are performed with significant independence under the general direction of the Public Health Policy Director.
Motivated self‑starter who works well independently and as part of a team. This position will have a duty station in Waterbury and is expected to have excellent research and writing abilities, and legal and/or public policy development experience. Familiarization with the Administrative Procedures Act and legislative process is a plus.

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. Duties are performed largely in an office setting, with some required travel for which private means of transportation must be available. Evening and weekend duty may be necessary. Some confrontational meetings with interest groups may occur. Superb human relations skills are necessary.
Minimum Qualifications- Master's degree or higher in public administration, political science, public health or a related field AND three (3) years of experience at a professional level in government relations, public health or health policy.
- Law degree AND two (2) years of experience at a professional level in government relations, public health or health policy.
- Master's degree in Public Health.
