Job DescriptionBurke Town School, serving children in Pre‑K to grade 8, is hiring a Middle School Mathematics teacher for grades 6‑8. Candidates should be dynamic, high‑quality math teachers interested in working in a high‑energy, collaborative school with a commitment to instruction within a middle‑school model. Building strong relationships with students is a priority.
- Deliver mathematics using the Open Up Resources curriculum (OUR) utilizing a workshop model and Common Core Standards.
- Work closely within a collaborative team of teachers and serve as a member of the vertical math team.
- Employ evidence‑based mathematics strategies, workshop models, positive behavior interventions, formative assessments, and Developmental Designs.
- Build relationships with students and collaborate to support high levels of achievement.
A 5‑9 Middle grades or 7‑12 mathematics endorsement is preferred.
The district provides mentorship, coaching and a supportive administration.
About the DistrictBurke Town School is part of the Kingdom East School District, located in the heart of a vibrant community in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. The district operates seven pre‑K to 8th‑grade schools ranging from 60 to 500 students. Our high‑school students have “choice” and may attend one of the traditional independent schools – Lyndon Institute or St. Johnsbury Academy – or another high‑school of their choosing.
The pay range for this position is currently $46,267‑$89,467.
We are located about 3 hours from Montreal, Boston and Portland, ME. Our region is known for breathtaking views and access to great skiing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, canoeing and other outdoor opportunities. We are close to the White Mountains and the Green Mountains. Littleton, NH and St. Johnsbury, VT host numerous fine and performing arts venues.
