Job DetailsThe Vermont Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program for Electrical and Plumbing assists in setting up structured, yet flexible training programs designed to meet the specific needs of Vermont employers through on-the-job learning and related instruction. Registered Apprenticeships can be sponsored by employers, employer associations, colleges, or labor management groups that can hire and train in a working situation.
Apprentices are required to complete 144 hours of classroom instruction for each year of their apprenticeship. The instruction program jointly established by the Vermont Department of Labor (VDOL) and Vermont State University (VTSU) delivers the required instruction in 48 3‑hour sessions. Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes, arrive on time, stay for the full 3 hours, be prepared to learn, and have assignments completed.
Apprenticeship tutors are needed to assist outside of the traditional classroom hours. Tutoring needs may vary depending on course/level and course syllabus requirements. Tutoring will be done remotely via Zoom.
Responsibilities- Provide tutoring support to apprenticeship students outside of traditional classroom hours.
- Assist with course-specific guidance and assignments as outlined by the course syllabus.
- Conduct remote tutoring sessions via Zoom.
- Ensure students are prepared for and attend scheduled sessions.
- Graduate of the apprenticeship program OR have successfully completed the level to which they plan to tutor.
- FLSA:
Exempt, Paid Hourly. - Part‑time, temporary, up to 6 hours per week.
- All full‑time and some part‑time positions are subject to a criminal background check; employment offers are conditional upon successful completion of these checks.
