The Division of Educational Leadership in the School of Education at the University of South Dakota seeks an Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure‑track) or an Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice (non‑tenure‑track) for a nine‑month, full‑time faculty position (option for summer teaching). The successful candidate will teach and mentor students in the division’s PreK‑20 educational doctorate (Ed.D.), master’s, and specialist programs delivered in hybrid and online course formats.
Responsibilities- Teach courses in educational leadership at the graduate level.
- Mentor graduate students and supervise dissertation projects.
- Conduct research leading to scholarly publications.
- Engage in professional service to the university and the profession.
- Participate in other duties as assigned.
- Earned Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Educational Leadership or a related field by August 21 2026.
- Successful experience as a PreK‑12 school leader in the United States.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness, research productivity, and professional service.
- Superintendent or central‑administration experience.
- College‑level teaching experience, especially across face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid modalities.
- Ability to forge meaningful relationships with students.
- Communicate a promising research agenda that contributes to the School of Education.
- Experience in the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED) program.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications. Position will be tenure‑track or Professor of Practice (non‑tenure‑track) depending on experience, with a nine‑month contract and optional summer contracts, effective August 22 2026.
