The Vermilion Association for Special Education is seeking a full or part-time Teacher for the Visually Impaired. The teacher will be working with students in Vermilion County. Travel is required and all mileage is reimbursed by the cooperative. Regionally competitive salary and benefits package. $3,000 sign-on bonus for three years of promised service. $1,500 retention bonus every three years! Low student case load.

Job Description Assess functional vision through testing, observation, consultation, and reading of ophthalmologist or optometrist s reportsParticipate in educational staffings concerning individual studentsDevelop and implement IEP goals/objectives in conjunction with the IEP teamProvide instruction to visually impaired students as stated on IEPIdentify the needs of students with visual impairments and monitor/consult/provide direct instruction to the students in the least restrictive environmentOrder, adapt, create and utilize all instructional curricular materials necessary and procure and correctly utilize adaptive equipment for meeting the full academic potential of those children with visual impairments in the regular classroomProvide consultation to school personnel concerning the student s functional visionTrain teachers on needed classroom modifications, and how to utilize adapted materials and equipmentProvide support and assistance with parent education and understanding of student s visual problemsMaintain appropriate records and service logAttend staff meetings and professional meetingsOther pertinent duties as assigned by Director or designated administratorQualifications
- ISBE PEL
- Teacher of Students Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired - Working knowledge of Braille and the teaching of Braille
- Willingness and ability to travel across county
