What you’ll do

Under general direction, performs a full range of sensitive, highly responsible, and confidential office administrative, secretarial, and technical support functions for the Chancellor’s Office.

The current vacancy is a 12‑month, full‑time (40 hours/week) position located at the District Administrative Center in Camarillo, CA.

Pursuant to Education Code Section 88091(b)(2), this position is at‑will and does not lead to permanent status in the classification. If service is discontinued for reasons other than disciplinary action, the employee may return to a previously held classification or to a similar classification as determined by the Personnel Commission of VCCCD. Additionally, the position is FLSA Exempt and does not receive overtime.

This recruitment is being conducted to establish a list of eligible candidates to fill district‑wide, current and upcoming, non‑bilingual and bilingual, temporary and regular vacancies for the duration of the list, not to exceed one year.

The District Administrative Center, centrally located in Camarillo, oversees administrative functions and provides leadership and services to the three colleges in support of VCCCD’s mission.

Salary placement — Generally, salary placement is on the first step of the salary range. Advanced step placement may be granted based on related education and experience. Current employees promoted will be placed on the salary step of the new range with a minimum increase comparable to a one‑step increase.

Representative duties
  • Serve as liaison between the Chancellor’s Office and faculty, staff, administrators, students, and the public. Provide general and specialized information and assistance, explain programs, policies, and activities, receive and screen visitors and telephone calls, and coordinate communication with District departments, Board members, vendors, and other organizations.
  • Relieve the Chancellor of administrative work related to investigating and responding to complaints; refer callers and complaints to appropriate staff.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze information from various sources; prepare and maintain data in databases; participate in reporting and provide recommendations.
  • Assist the Chancellor in Board administration by completing a variety of administrative tasks, including agenda preparation, minutes, and information packets for Board meetings and committees; coordinate travel arrangements and related expense reports; arrange facilities, equipment, and services for Board meetings.
  • Keep informed of policies and regulations affecting the Chancellor’s Office and respond accordingly.
  • Attend meetings on behalf of the Chancellor’s Office when required.
  • Plan and organize work activities; develop workflow improvements; revise office forms and report formats as needed.
  • Compose, format, edit, type, proofread, duplicate, and distribute correspondence and materials using appropriate software.
