This position is responsible for:
- Receives and processes online and in-person applications submitted to the Emergency Financial Assistance (EFA) program as obtained through established procedures and as required by grant funding; communicates with the Program Manager weekly regarding the status of the intake process.
- Conducts pre-screen phone interviews to determine initial eligibility for program enrollment based on the established guidelines and requirements. Schedules in-person application appointments based on client needs and program guidelines.
- Meets with clients to discuss need and complete required paperwork;
Collects and reviews all necessary documents from EFA clients either via email, online application portal, or in-person. - Ensures completion of client application to determine eligibility and establish the needs.
- Completes the required spreadsheets, check requests, and program information systems on the same day the client has been seen.
- Inputs client and commitment information on FPL Portal and provides a letter of approval to the client.
- Inputs family information into various databases and checks existing information in said databases, updating if necessary.
- Uploads documents to existing databases and ensures that privacy guidelines are established and followed (example; no copies of Social Security Cards and State Ids in the files.)
- If paper files are required, then creates, maintains and/or updates file folders with the names of the client and account holder, dates, grants used, and benefit amounts.
- Meets monthly funding goals set forth by funders, Director of Social Services, and Program Manager.
- Meets time constraints set forth by funders and EFA leadership.
- Refers clients to appropriate Corps programs or other agencies based on clients’ needs and in accordance with their program plan.
- Attends community meetings with representatives of other agencies in order to educate them about the program, make client referrals and maintain awareness of client's progress.
- Participates in all team meetings by bringing forth questions and possible solutions to outstanding issues.
- Keeps to the standards and protocols set forth by Director of Social Services and Program Manager so there is consistency across the department.
- May perform work at one or more locations to meet with clients based on the approved meeting schedule set forth by the Director of Social Services and Program Manager.
- Ensures applications and paperwork are filed per office procedures.
- Informs Director of Social Services and Program Manager immediately when there is a problem, potential problem, or if deadlines cannot or have not been met.
- Remains up-to-date on all emails, voicemails, and changes.
- Conducts tours of program facility for outside agencies as requested by Director of Social Services and Program Manager.
- Assists with community services as needed.
- Assists in performing social service work for special or seasonal projects, such as but not limited to Angel Tree and Disaster Relief.
- Performs other related work as required.
- Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
- Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
- Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like,and within the grounds of the 3450 S Biscayne Dr, North Portproperty, with travel to the Sarasota and Venice locations as needed.

Education and Experience
- Two years of college coursework from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or a related field, AND
- Two years experience working in a social or public service environment with experience assisting the public, OR
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
