Position Description

The Plant Operator is responsible for the management of the asphalt plant and asphalt production.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Asphalt Plant Operator directly reports to the Asphalt Plant Foreman.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare end of day plant reports as directed
• Maintain yard and plant to exceed environmental requirements and control room in a neat and orderly fashion
• Maintain plant settings and recordation of plant statistics as directed by the Plant Foreman
• Document plant records in the plant diary relating to plant repairs and maintenance as it becomes necessary Report findings to the Plant Foreman
• Coordinate with outside sales customers as necessary

Position Requirements

REQUIREMENTS - PREFERREED

• High School graduate
• Familiarity with computers
• Mechanical and electrical background
• Construction background

• Insure adherence to all federal, state, local and Ajax Safety and Environmental rules and regulations

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work is exposed to outdoor conditions, noise and heat
• Ability to work days, nights and weekends as required

PERSONALITY REQUIREMENTS

• Accurate and well organized
• Self-motivated with good communication skills
• Ability to work well with subordinates, peers and supervisors

ATTENDANCE AND RELIABILITY

• Reporting to work on time, after lunch, and not leaving early unless authorized
• Always providing proper notification and advance notice of absence
• Not abusing or taking advantage of personal days off
• Performing such other duties as may be required

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The essential functions of this position include sitting, standing, walking, climbing, reaching, bending, trunk movements, lifting a minimum of 45 lbs., carrying, pushing/pulling, low-level work, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking.
