Surgical Procedural Scheduler

Overview

The Surgical Procedural Scheduler works directly with surgeon offices, and Perioperative area leadership to accurately schedule patients for surgical procedures including pre-admission testing appointments in OR, Oncology, Endoscopy and Bronchoscopy Lab, Cath Lab and other procedure areas utilizing a block-scheduling system in a way that best maximizes surgeon satisfaction while also managing the overall utilization of the procedural areas. The Surgical Scheduler will also ensure appropriate equipment, room specifications and preference cards are selected in order to accurately support the scheduled case and best facilitate the daily schedule.

Provides excellent communication and support to patients, physicians, leadership, and staff. Aids the OR desk with department flow, communications, add on and emergent case scheduling, clerical and other support duties.

Schedule patients for surgical procedures including pre-admission testing in OR, Oncology, Endoscopy and Bronchoscopy Lab, Cath Lab and other procedure areas using a block-scheduling system to maximize surgeon satisfaction and procedural utilization. Ensure appropriate equipment, room specifications and preference cards are selected to support the scheduled case and daily schedule. Provide excellent communication and support to patients, physicians, leadership, and staff.

Aid the OR desk with department flow, add-ons and emergent case scheduling, clerical and other support duties.

• Required:
  
  two (2) years of previous healthcare experience.
• Preferred: demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
• Preferred: knowledge of ICD-10, CPT-4, and APC, including implementation and maintenance.
• Preferred: effective communication skills, including the ability to handle difficult customer situations.
• Preferred: ability to type a minimum of fifty (50) words per minute.
• Preferred: ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Preferred: experience or background in surgery case information/operations.

  High School Diploma, GED or Certificate
• AD:
  Associate's Degree
