The Meadoway Field Staff position is responsible for assisting the Project Manager and Crew Leads to complete meadow restoration and invasive species management activities including site preparation, seeding, mowing, and herbicide application. Staff will learn relevant skills, techniques, and best management practices for meadow restoration and invasive species management. Field staff will assist crew leads and actively participate in the safe operation and maintenance of a range of tools and equipment including tractors, zero turn mowers and backpack sprayers.
The Meadoway Field Staff will participate in the implementation of meadow restoration and adaptive management activities including mowing, rototilling and invasive species management. This position plays an integral role in the on-ground implementation of meadow restoration and ecosystem enhancement through the management of invasive species and participates in the application of appropriate pesticides under the supervision of a licensed pesticide applicator.
The role also requires demonstrated knowledge of native and invasive plants, good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team, and the ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
- Participates in ecological and maintenance projects
- Requirements of the role require consistent movement and physicality, such as walking, stretching, jumping, digging, lifting (up to 45 lbs) /pushing/pulling items, cleaning, working on vegetation or other general strains
- Participates in the application of appropriate pesticides under supervision of a licensed pesticide applicator
- The location of the work site is outdoors and subject to uneven terrain and changing weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, precipitation and UV exposure
- Operates appropriate machinery and equipment required to execute work duties related to specific project/program area
- Directs the public to project notice signage and possibly providing contact information for additional information and inquiries, referring detailed questions and complaints to supervisor
- Participates in the daily safety meetings including tailgate meetings, hazard identification and emergency planning
- Assists with maintenance of equipment and vehicles, performs circle and other health and safety checks. Reports potential maintenance requirements to supervisor

Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
- Minimum, pursuing a post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field
- Valid Class G2 Driver’s License
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
- Familiar with basic equipment and power tools
