This is a year-round, full-time career opportunity with benefits in the Canada's Wonderland Ride Maintenance Department.
CANDIDATE PROFILEThe successful candidate will be a seasoned, hands‑on leader with proven expertise in the maintenance of a large, diverse property with multiple areas of both Hard and Soft landscapes. The candidate will have the ability to multitask and meet the challenges of a fast‑paced, diverse team environment.
SCOPE OF POSITION- Hands‑on leadership of the park’s turf, horticulture, irrigation, paving and off‑season snow removal efforts, including operational planning, supply and material procurement.
- Providing direction and support for both Full Time and Seasonal associates in the Landscape/Grounds department.
- Supervision of vehicle/equipment maintenance shop.
- Planning and execution of all snow removal and other winter maintenance programs.
- Oversee all processes for supply and equipment purchasing. Manage expenses to achieve department budget goals.
- Supervise hiring, training, and development of full‑time and seasonal associates.
- Supervise the planning and repair schedules for park equipment and vehicle maintenance programs.
- Prepare reports, complete inspections, respond to work orders, and plan schedules for grounds maintenance activities.
- Responsible for ensuring that all department documentation and record‑keeping is complete and done in accordance with company / regulatory standards.
- Oversee inspection and treatment programs (examples include Tree Management programs, weed control, and similar).
- Responsible for park seasonal cleanup and daily in‑season overnight sweeping and washdown programs.
- Proven leadership experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in a related field.
- Degree or Diploma in Horticultural studies, Landscape technology, turf grass management or equivalent experience is required.
- Experience and training in safe use of various heavy equipment (loaders, sweepers, turf equipment, snow removal equipment).
- Experience and training in safe use of both power and hand tools (chainsaws, mowers, trimmers, etc).
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to use basic computer applications (Word, email) required.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license (driver’s abstract will be required).
- Ability to work weekends and holidays as required, and be on‑call for snow removal as assigned.
- Ownership of tools and safety boots.
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
- Required to meet physical demands of the job including weights of up to 23 kg, frequent standing, walking, twisting, reaching, bending, and ability to work with a variety of equipment.
