Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time
Location: Concord, Ontario (CA-ON)
Compensation: $86,200.00 to $95,700.00 per year + discretionary annual target bonus at 10% up to a maximum of 15% of your base pay.

- Ensure Health & Safety standards are met by coordinating, promoting and conducting OH&S programs and activities related to the OH&S Management System to meet safety requirements; initiate and promote day-to-day safety policies and deliver training for employees and management.
- Conduct OH&S assessments and periodic audits; implement safety strategies and action plans; coach and advise management on OH&S policies, procedures, practices and legislative requirements.
- Promote a strong safety culture; reinforce that safety is a value across all priorities and foster a safe work environment through employee involvement and leadership.
- Coordinate training and program development for industrial and mining establishments by analyzing training needs, vendor selection, developing and delivering training, and updating training records.
- Support preventative injury initiatives, focusing on Serious Injury or Fatality (SIF).
- Provide leadership and coaching; communicate occupational hazards and risks to managers and workforce; collaborate with stakeholders to minimize risks and hazards.
- Support project teams and supervisors with coaching and mentoring on safety items.
- Assist in implementing the Health and Safety Management System through day-to-day policies and training delivery.
- Assist with design of standards, programs, and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury.
- Implement audits and inspections to validate adherence to company policy and applicable health and safety laws and regulations.
- Participate in investigations following serious incidents; establish corrective action plans to prevent recurrence; assist in preparing materials for hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
- Advise on compliance matters with stakeholders regarding interactions with municipal, provincial, and federal agencies as needed (e.g., MOL, WSIB).
- Implement compliance processes related to assessments and surveys (e.g., noise, dust).
- Provide subject matter expertise and develop practical solutions to resolve safety issues.
- Develop and deliver safety training materials; ensure tracking system is in place.
- Prepare and maintain internal and external reports.
- Lead and support Human Performance investigations; help develop corrective actions; monitor completion and effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Participate in the corporate safety network; share expertise with other business units/regions to develop corporate standards and guidance.
- University degree in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience
- 3-5 years of experience in Health and Safety, preferably in the industrial and mining industry
- Valid Driver’s License (Class G or equivalent)
- Sound knowledge of OH&S principles, policies, procedures and regulations
- Strong working knowledge of provincial legislation and regulations WSIA, OHSA
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Ensure safety protocols are aligned with the Health and Safety Management System, regulatory requirements, and client expectations
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards and assess safety risks
- Lead investigations into safety events such as near misses and serious incidents
- Stay current on regulatory changes and best practices in the industry
- Knowledge of local, provincial, and federal laws and government regulations including MLITSD and WSIB
- Ability to be responsive and persuasive at all levels of the organization
- Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects
- Strong attention to detail, customer focus and sense of urgency
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to coach employees and management through complex issues and make recommendations
