Senior Casualty Claims Adjuster – Bodily Injury – Full‑time, Mid‑Senior level

Position Details

As a Senior Casualty Claims Adjuster – Bodily Injury, you will be responsible for full handling of automobile and property bodily injury claims of varying complexity. Your dynamic personality and ability to excel in a high‑performance environment will be essential for successful claim investigation, evaluation, and resolution.

What you will do
  • Full handle of both direct deal and litigated files
  • Investigate, evaluate, negotiate automobile and property tort loss of moderate to high complexity
  • Manage challenging coverage claims with tact and professionalism
  • Arrange and manage vendors for investigation (IA’s, surveillance, legal defence, defence medicals)
  • Accurately assess and reserve the claim in line with corporate protocols and guidelines
  • Maintain control of expenses through proactive handling techniques
  • Manage claims in litigation, participate in mediations, pre‑trials and trials
  • Obtain approval from Manager on claims above authority
  • Assist in training and providing support to junior and intermediate bodily injury adjusters
  • Assist the leadership team with operational objectives and special projects
Who You Are
  • Post‑secondary education or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience handling casualty claims
  • Strong organizational, decision‑making and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to identify and analyze coverage issues
  • Expertise in file preparation and negotiating a file to resolution
  • Knowledge of claims settlement, policy wording, fraud investigations
  • Attention to detail and ability to cross‑reference information
  • Strong general computer knowledge
  • CIP designation or working towards one is an asset
  • Ability to understand insurance contracts in various jurisdictions is an asset
  • Knowledge of handling claims across Canada and US exposures is an asset
