Role: Business Analyst -- MUST HAVE experience within Utilities industry domain

Location: Hybrid (3 days remote, 2 days @ Vaughan office)

Rate: Negotiable

Client and Role Description

Our client is a Large Scale Utilities Provider (Municipal), at the forefront of transforming Ontario’s energy landscape—and their Grid Modernization team is leading the charge. As a Business Analyst (Grid Modernization Specialist), you’ll play a vital role in deploying and enhancing critical grid modernization software and technologies that support the Asset Strategy & Operations (ASO) division. This role blends technical expertise, strategic planning, and cross‑functional collaboration to support the implementation and continuous improvement of platforms like Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) and Distributed System Operator (DSO) software.

You’ll help ensure these systems are aligned with operational needs and deliver measurable impact across the utility.

You’ll contribute to the success of the Grid Modernization team by:

  • Defining and documenting business and functional requirements for the deployment of ADMS, DSO software, and other modernization platforms.
  • Managing vendor relationships and deliverables for key Grid Modernization initiatives.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across Operations, Planning, Asset Management, Field Services, and Control Rooms to develop and execute a comprehensive roadmap for business and technology needs.
  • Supporting the reliability and efficiency of in‑house developed analytics tools through proactive maintenance, updates, and issue resolution.
  • Assisting in the preparation of bi‑weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad‑hoc reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring that all systems and tools are implemented effectively, efficiently, and in alignment with strategic goals.

Technical & Sector Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with utility software systems such as ADMS, SCADA, DMS, GIS (an asset)
  • Understanding of Ontario’s utility sector and its key stakeholders (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Windows 10 and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Education:

  • Ideal for candidates enrolled in or graduated from Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Industrial Engineering programs
