DescriptionWe are looking for a skilled and detailed-oriented Electronics Technologist to join the Electronics Engineering Team based at the Global Technology Center in Vaughan, Ontario. The selected candidate will report directly to the Lead Electrical Engineer and play a key role in the assembly, calibration, testing, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of pipeline inspection tools and their electronic components.
Responsibilities- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and calibration of electronic subsystems used in pipeline inspection tools.
- Assemble and test circuit boards, connectors, batteries, and data acquisition modules.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electronic malfunctions in both lab and field environments.
- Support the integration and functional testing of electronic and software subsystems.
- Comply with all safety, quality, and documentation protocols, including ESD handling and ISO procedures.
- Assemble electronic hardware and subsystems in accordance with detailed schematics and engineering designs, ensuring reliable and consistent performance under field conditions.
- Troubleshoot complex electromechanical assemblies, identifying and resolving faults related to component interaction, wiring, and embedded control systems.
- Assist in the development of project plans, contributing technical input on timelines, component readiness, and deliverable milestones to support on-time project execution.
- Work collaboratively across engineering, mechanical, software, and operations teams to ensure that project requirements are met and integrated systems function as intended.
- Identify and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in processes, test methods, and system performance, helping enhance product reliability, service efficiency, and operational safety.
- Adhere to and promote high standards of quality, actively participating in root cause analyses, corrective actions, and feedback loops to support a culture of technical excellence.
- Occasionally travel internationally to support field operations and provide technical assistance.
- Additional Duties:
Support other departments as required, including maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of production equipment. Be flexible to adapt to changing production demands and new technology. - Operational Excellence:
Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, consistently working towards the achievement of individual and team goals. - Additional Duties:
Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent technical certification.
- 2+ years of hands‑on experience in electronic testing, repair, or calibration.
- Thorough understanding of electrical circuit theory and low‑power electronic systems, with the ability to analyze and interpret circuit behavior.
- Strong working knowledge of analog and digital electronics, including experience with signal conditioning and data acquisition.
- Familiarity with embedded systems, including microprocessor‑level signals, serial communication protocols (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C), and ARM‑based architecture.
- Proficient in the use of test and diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
- Skilled in assembling small parts, connectors, and enclosures, including precision soldering of surface‑mount and through‑hole components.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and shifting priorities in a fast‑paced technical environment.
- Demonstrated analytical thinking and troubleshooting ability, with a hands‑on, self‑starting attitude and a strong desire to continuously learn and improve.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document test results, report issues clearly, and collaborate across technical teams.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to field sites as needed.
