The Component Engineering Technologist will support the evaluation and qualification of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components for Sciex Mass Spectrometry instruments and accessories. This role involves assisting with technology assessments, supplier capability reviews, lifecycle analysis, and compliance checks to ensure components meet design requirements and maintain security of supply. Once qualified, components will be baselined in the Product Data Management system. The technologist will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including R&D and Supply Chain, to address component requirements and resolve issues, contributing to both new product development and sustaining manufacturing activities to ensure On‑Time Delivery.

This position reports to the Senior Manager of Component Engineering and is part of the R&D team located in Concord, Ontario, Canada and will be an on‑site role.

In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To
  • Support New Product Introduction by investigating and qualifying new Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components, ensuring performance requirements are fully defined at instrument release.
  • Collaborate with the Component Engineer to identify and validate replacement components for existing production, coordinating with cross‑functional teams (R&D, Supply Chain) to maintain compatibility and ensure On‑Time Delivery.
  • Contribute to Bill of Material (BOM) assessments, including lifecycle analysis for both new products and current production.
The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include
  • Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience as a Component Technologist in an R&D environment.
  • Eligible for or certified as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or Applied Science Technologist (AST) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environmental Requirements
  • Not applicable.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in
  • At least 3 years of experience in an R&D environment selecting/sourcing components and creating Bills of Material.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe applications.

The annual salary range for this role is $71,167 – $77,500 CAD. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
