Senior Electrical Engineer – Healthcare Buildings
Join WSP in Canada as a Senior Electrical Engineer on the Healthcare Buildings team in Thornhill, Ontario. The role involves delivering design and delivery of complex electrical systems for Class A healthcare facilities.
The OpportunityWSP is building a portfolio of historic, cutting‑edge buildings worldwide. As part of our Healthcare Buildings group, you will work on high‑volume projects, leveraging industry‑specific software and introducing new technologies and design solutions. What you can expect to do here- Take complex design projects from start to finish, ensuring deliverables meet project criteria and all applicable standards.
- Design building systems – power distribution, standby generators, lighting, fire alarm, lightning protection, communication, nurse call, security, and related electrical systems – including calculations, specifications, and drawings.
- Introduce new technology and design concepts as mandated by the project and client.
- Utilize industry‑specific software and related technologies in design and analysis.
- Prepare reports, budgets, project plans, and supporting documentation.
- Manage all aspects of contract administration and client service monitoring.
- Coordinate with agencies as necessary for project approvals and permitting.
- Lead junior and intermediate team members in method development, analytical approaches, and project execution.
- Participate in proposal preparation activities.
- University degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent.
- 10+ years of consulting electrical design experience in Canadian healthcare buildings, leading design for complex or highly complex Class A projects.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario (P.Eng.).
- LEED accreditation and sustainable‑design experience are assets.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, electrical‑design software, and AutoCAD drafting required; proficiency with Revit is an asset.
- Knowledge of P3 projects on both the client and constructor sides is desirable.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam Studio is an asset.
