About

the Role

As a Business Development Manager – Capital Markets, you will play a critical role in supporting external wholesalers and driving sales growth across Canada’s wealth dealer network. This role combines sales development, relationship management, and trade execution. This role will report to both the Vice Presidents of Wholesale dually with some direction from the President, Capital Markets. You will help build and maintain key advisor and dealer relationships, provide timely product updates, and manage sales performance in CRM through accurate tracking and reporting.

In addition, you will own the trade process from subscription agreements through to fulfillment, ensuring a seamless experience for advisors and investors. This position is ideal for a motivated professional who wants to strengthen advisor partnerships, contribute directly to business development, and grow within the wholesale distribution channel.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with External Wholesalers to drive sales activity, focusing on retail distribution channels such as IIROC dealers, EMDs, independent wealth platforms, and family office.
  • Assist with building and maintaining key relationships with investment advisors, associate advisors, and dealer head offices to increase engagement and product adoption.
  • Develop and maintain strong connections with advisors and their support teams through proactive outbound calls, virtual meetings, and marketing campaigns.
  • Deliver clear and professional product presentations, fund updates, and market insights tailored to advisor needs.
  • Support business development by identifying sales opportunities, tracking pipeline activity, and ensuring timely follow-ups.
  • Respond promptly to advisor inquiries regarding product details, performance, and operational processes.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Product teams to distribute sales materials, educational content, and campaign updates.
  • Manage performance in CRM (Hub Spot or equivalent), including accurate activity tracking, pipeline management, and reporting on sales progress.
  • Own the process of getting trades processed where needed — from sending subscription agreements, ensuring all documentation is complete, coordinating with operations/compliance, and managing the workflow right through to fulfillment.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and generate regular sales activity and pipeline reports.
  • Assist with advisor events, webinars, and conferences to increase product awareness and adoption.
  • Continuously monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and advisor feedback to enhance the sales process.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Finance, or related field (CFA, CFP, CIM, or progress toward industry designations is an asset).
  • 2+ years of sales, inside sales, or advisor support experience in the wealth management, asset management, or financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian wealth distribution channels (IIROC, MFDA, EMD, private placements).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong presentation ability.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred), MS Office Suite, and digital meeting platforms (Zoom, Teams, Web Ex).
  • Self-starter with proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
